We have begun our spring seasons working on ball control.
The 2/3s (Tots) are practicing dribbling skills and changing directions. They are doing much better at avoiding the obstacles like cones, Coaches or peers while moving around the soccer space.
The 4/5s (Pre-K) are working on these same skills with a progression of techniques. Things like keeping the ball close, winning a ball back when it gets taken and quicker direction changes to keep possession of the ball. Scrimmage is developing nicely and we are working on passing to teammates when we have one ball to move towards the goal.
5-10s (School Age groups) are building on the base skills like dribbling and ball movement. They are improving their body mechanics while dribbling and passing. We are also working on the concepts of holding space and following passes to cover open space. It is hard not to "chase the ball". We are practicing space movement and management to learn how to create opportunities to move the ball as a team.
These kiddos are doing great!
